CREATIVE COMPETITION 2009
The Orange Giraffe Project, an organization which believes strongly in healing through art, is proud to showcase the finalists of our international competition, "Jewelry meets Health and Medicine: A Global Perspective." With jewelry as their medium, artists in this competition were challenged to revisit past notions of healing, therapy, and healthcare on a culturally diverse and global level.
The works chosen span themes such as: disease prevention, mental health, disabilities, environmental health, societal impacts of big pharma, and even the metamorphoses our bodies go through when recovering from illness. Some chose to use traditional jewelrymaking supplies, while others opted to make wearable art from unconventional materials.
Thank you for joining in our dialogue. We hope these works of art will inspire you to question your own notions of health, beauty, and therapy.
